2022 Packet Pick up and Race Logistics

This blog provides information on In-person Race Packet Pickup and Race Day logistics. Registration is full for the in-person 10K and 5K. Space remains for the Virtual Race.

Both the 5K and 10K start at 8:00 am on Saturday March 5th. See the full schedule of events.

NOTE: Start/Finish area is at 500 Washington Street at Bull City Running Co’s downtown store.

Packet Pickup

Runners and walkers may pickup their bibs and shirts on Friday afternoon and Saturday (race day) morning.

  • Friday Packet Pickup will be at Bull City Running Co, downtown Durham at 500 Washington St.. Friday packet pickup is open from 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Participants can pickup race shirts and race bib.
  • Race Day (Saturday) Packet Pickup will be at the start/finish area at 500 Washington Street, Durham from 6:45am until 7:45am. Participants can pickup race shirts and race bib. Unclaimed shirts will be offered to volunteers as a thank you after the race starts.

Race Day Parking

Florence Forth participants can find parking on streets and various parking lots downtown.

NO PARKING in the City Place  parking lot (501 Washington Street) or on Washington Street between Corporation and Trinity.

The closest surface lot is at 420 Morris Street. A parking deck is located at 300 W Morgan (corner of Morgan and Morris).


Run the Race Distance on your Bib

Your bib has a chip that is programmed for the race you registered.  Switching races (especially from the 10K to the 5K) will result in disqualification. Please help us by not switching races.


Race Course Logistics

FF15_0327Lining up:  When lining up for the race, consider your pace relative to others. The front runners are likely to run a 5:00 min per mile pace. There are no race pacers running the course.

Kids: We have many kids registered, which is awesome!  Parents, please have your kids start behind the competitive racers.  We expect some very fast runners at the front.   We want to avoid dangerous situations if a kid stops suddenly.

10K runs the course twice: All runners run the same 5K course. 10K runners will come through the finish area and head back out for a second loop of the same 5K route.

WALKERS and Slower 5K Runners: Walkers and slower runners, please be aware that 10K runners are likely to pass you on the Greenway as they complete their second loop. Please stay to one side to allow them to pass.

Dogs, Scooters and Baby Joggers: While we love our own dogs and know you love yours, dogs and other animals are not permitted on the race course or the post-race celebration. Similarly, scooters, rollerblades and other wheeled things should not be on the course. The exception is that baby joggers are allowed to start at the back of the race.

Water & Aid Stations

We will have one aid station near the 1.5 mile mark on the 5K course. 10K runners will come by this aid station twice..  This station will have water cups available..

Minimum Pace

To ensure all participants reach the finish line by 9:30am, a minimum pace of 15 minutes per mile will be enforced in the 10K.  A minimum pace of 30 minutes per mile will be enforced in the 5K.  A trailing bike rider (10K) and walker (5K) will maintain this pace.  Participants who fall behind these pace times will be asked to move off the road and use sidewalks. The road will reopen to traffic at this point.
