Custom-built playhouse to be auctioned at the Florence Forth Road Race

FF Playhouse 1One-of-a-kind Playhouse

A one-of-a-kind children’s playhouse will be auctioned off during the Florence Forth Road Race this Saturday, March 7th. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Autoimmune Encephalitis Alliance, a 501c3 nonprofit.

Habitat for Humanity of Durham provided all the materials and qualified supervision as part of its Playhouse program, a team building effort in which businesses or students construct a playhouse and then donate it to a nonprofit that benefits children.

The Florence Forth playhouse is bright yellow and adorned with butterflies and flowers. The structure is approximately 4x5x5 feet with functioning doors and windows painted in Florence’s favorite color, purple.

The AE Alliance was founded by Leslie and Will McDow along with Daniel and Helen Egger who share a common bond of children with autoimmune encephalitis.  The AE Alliance was created so that no one would have to face this disease alone.
