Each course has been certified by USATF [See certification maps below].  The 5K will be about 100 meters longer than the certified 5K to accommodate a shared starting line with the 10K.  The start and finish lines will be on Ninth Street, Durham (in the 700 block). [Note: Start and Finish line indicated by break in course lines on Ninth Street. Map not displaying symbols.]

After the race, join your friends, family, other runners and walkers and race volunteers on Ninth Street for food, music and kids’ activities while you wait for the awards ceremony.


Activities for kids will include

  • Kids Cape Dash down main street with capes provided by Sew Crafty
  • Creative fun games with hula hoops, bean bags and balls provided by Play On!
  • Art projects and letter writing for sick kids at Duke Children’s Hospital
  • Florence Forth face painting
