Remembering 2019, Citrus and All

The 7th annual Florence Forth race was held on Saturday March 2nd. We had ~1,000 runners and walkers participate and the weather was just perfect for a race!

Oranges, Oranges, Everywhere!

We always laugh when thinking back to behind the scenes in prepping for the race. This year we received a generous donation of two large boxes of oranges for participants to have after finishing. But the oranges weren’t cut. So late on Friday night, our kitchen was bustling with friends and orange juice stickiness on tables, hands, floor, clothes as we cut all those oranges!  How grateful we were to friends who showed up to help at the 11th hour!

Our Sponsors Are Amazing!

And we want to remember and call out the band from SC play, Jerry’s Nub. Luke Shriver, who is an AE survivor, and his band mates played on the course to cheer on participants!  We also had a lot of amazing local sponsors at the finish line including: Big Spoon Roasters, Tribucha, Coca Cola, Yoga Off East, Durham Animal Protection Society, HappyMess Art Studio, and the Durham Co-Op

Congrats to the Finishers!

You can find the race results here. Sammy George and Ethan Clary were our top overall female and male finishers!

The race raised $35,000 for the AE Alliance and we used the profits to continue our work improving care of AE patients by connecting researchers with patients for surveys and even studies.
